The Project

This digital library presents a carefully preserved collection of thirty books, primarily in Sanskrit, Bengali, and Hindi, from the personal library of His Divine Grace Śrīla A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, consulted by him while composing his commentaries on the Bhagavad-gītā, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Caitanya-caritāmṛta, and other works. These volumes also accompanied Śrīla Prabhupāda during his travels to Vṛndāvana and other places and have been carefully maintained by Jananivāsa Prabhu in Śrīla Prabhupāda’s personal room in Śrīdhāma Māyāpur over the years. While not exhaustive of all the books Śrīla Prabhupāda may have used, they constitute a historically significant working collection.

The physical originals have been professionally conserved and restored by the Bhaktivedanta Research Center (BRC), rebound and embossed for identification, and remain securely housed in Śrīla Prabhupāda’s personal room in Śrīdhāma Māyāpur. In parallel, BRC has created this digital archive through high-resolution scans, providing open access to the collection.
For the first time ever, each volume is now presented online in its entirety, with original covers, complete page images, and a detailed bibliographic catalogue. While devotees have long been blessed with the opportunity to take darśana of these sacred texts in Śrīla Prabhupāda’s room, the digital format offers the hitherto unavailable facility of close, page-by-page perusal of each volume—an opportunity precluded by the fragile condition of the physical books. This expanded access to the complete Mayapur collection provides a rare and intimate window into a selection of books personally consulted by His Divine Grace when writing his commentaries presenting Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava philosophy to the world.

Prabhupada's Room

Śrīla Prabhupāda’s room, located on the second floor of the Lotus Building in Śrīdhāma Māyāpur, was personally used by His Divine Grace during his stays in Māyāpur. It was here that Śrīla Prabhupāda wrote his books and received devotees. Alongside his personal library, the room contains copies of his published works in various languages, many of which were brought to Māyāpur by his disciples from around the world during his time there. The space also preserves items personally used by Śrīla Prabhupāda, including his japa-mālā, utensils, footwear, dictaphone and the kerosene lamp he used while writing at night. The room, together with the arrangement of its contents, has been carefully maintained over the decades exactly as it was during Śrīla Prabhupāda’s time, in honor of the room’s sanctity.
